Hmmm a friend just told me that she has taken out a pet insurance policy to cover her 3 dogs. I have never heard of pet insurance, does anyone else insure their pets? Should I be worried?

We have both of our dogs insured and have claimed for one of them who requires treatment for the rest of her life. She is only 6 now. So, we have gained from the insurance.
I'm sure that it is worth doing.

I have always covered my dogs, policies vary and always read the small print and check what you are covered for. Generally its health so you can claim if they have major illness or need an operation, the public should your dog bite someone or cause an accident by running in front of a car and in some cases for behaviourist training (often how im paid after a vet refers to me).
We have good deals with Argos for two of our dogs, the oldies are with different companies as insuring them is a little more complex especially as they were rescues without any vet records & history.

I totally agree with Angela, you always need to check the small print. I have made this mistake in the past by signing up to policies with riddled with hidden costs. I was not impressed to say the least!! So when it came to renew the policy I changed my insurer over with the best reputation. At that time it was a pet insurance company called Healthy pets, which so far have actually been really good. They have given me good cover, friendly advice and have been quick to process the odd claim that I have had to make. Perhaps they are worth checking out along with Argos?

I agree with all. Pet Insurance is a must, it will save you many pounds if anything ever happens. I have found Tesco's to be good and also Pet Plan the most helpful. Hope that helps.
